Gene designs from fabulous, young fashion designers in El Paso, Texas

Love in Louisville and Love in Bloom did not come first in our story but this photo is ready to welcome you to read more about the great designers “Out in the West Texas town of El Paso…”

You can see why “I (we) fell in love with a Mexican girl”.

These photos are from other Gene collectors. We are working to learn who so we can give credit for the photos and styling.

We present from left to right, Love in Louisville and Love in Bloom. Regina’s original design was in black and the black version is very limited because it was done for the Sandra Stillwell and Ashton Drake Gene Convention in Louisville as a special event. Love in Bloom was an Ashton Drake line doll. The pink color was styled by Joan Greene. Love in Bloom is the doll that was honored to be the Gene doll photographed to introduce the male doll, Trent Osborn, to the Gene Marshall line. We are looking for that photo to share.

But, of course, Love in Bloom has its own Wiki page.

The same designer of Love in Bloom, Regina Ganem, also created The Perfect Gift when she was a Junior at the CCTE, Center for Career and Technology Education, a part of the EPISD – El Paso Independent School District.

The Perfect Gift is a boxed outfit. Here she is in the Ashton Drake catalog photo.

If you cannot get enough of these amazing fashions, go to the general Gene Marshall and Friends Pinterest page and enjoy photos from 20 years of fashion doll history.

Or read about this doll’s history at Gene Marshall Wiki

To be continued.

Where is that syllabus?

Clothing in the ancient world

Image via Wikipedia

Whereas we are strong believers in the great value of a well written syllabus…  And whereas fashion students need to consult their course syllabi constantly throughout the semester…  and whereas we know that incoming students could be aided by reading the course syllabus before they decide which courses to take and in what order:  here are links to all of the fashion syllabi.

All 2010 Fashion Technology syllabi can be found at EPCC.edu by clicking on Online Services and choosing Course Syllabi from the drop down window.  Next click F (for fashion) and you will see Fashion Technology as one of the options.  Click that link to find a list for all course syllabi and then choose course by course.

Ahhh, that was not too hard but we are not yet done.  Those clicks lead to the syllabus Part II of the syllabus where you find the course description and the many objectives to be covered and learned (we like to call them competencies since that is what you are developing.)

To access Part I for each course syllabus, you have to go to another place on epcc.edu. web page, choose Catalog / Schedules, then choose Search Course & Faculty Information and follow the steps to select a “Term” (which means Fall or Spring in our world), then a course (all fashion courses start with FSH so that will get you in the vicinity) and then an instructor (there will only be one for each fashion course) and you will be able to scroll down and see the hyperlinks to the Syllabus, Part I which contains the name and ISBN for the textbook, what work you must do in the course, as well as the entire semester calendar.

Have faith and keep clicking even if the pop-up windows tell you that the file is unreadable and a few other confusing messages.  Trust us, the file will open just fine… so click away to find the syllabus.

One small grrrrrrrrrr…. you cannot yet see the syllabi Part I for Spring 2012 because we have not yet uploaded them… so sorry, but they will be there no later than mid-January.

For those readers who are not attending fashion classes with us at this time, you might consider self-educating using the syllabus as a guide.  We hope you can be with us one day but in the meantime you can begin or continue your fashion self-education.

“The national committee organizing the Take Back the Night awareness campaign against sexual violence announced March 16 that it has selected a design by UTEP junior Sam Rodriguez for its national commemorative T-shirt.

The front of the black T-shirt is decorated with a flickering flame on top of the stacked words Take Back the Night, which are shaped like a candle. The shirts will be used as a fundraiser for the event that started more than 33 years ago in Brussels, Belgium.

The back of the shirts have the TBTN logo along with 10 points of light—the 10 centers, colleges and universities, including UTEP, that were selected to participate in a special April 29 program.”.

Jean Paul Gaultier is my hero….

This picture is the epitome of style.  Gaultier focused on the ecclesiastical last year and I am still in love with the feel.  I am not even sure why I am so touched by this pic, but I think it is fabulous.

;)

Hello my luvs….

i really don’t know what to say today 😦 cant think of anything to write about…hmmmm…lets see well i start working at Macy’s in a couple of days yay!!! not the position i wanted but hey i gotta start somewhere right. Well for those of you who dont know (um…that would be all of you lol) I’m a Fashion Merchandising major and i gotta tell you i loooooove it!!! So i had an internship this past winter break at a boutique here @ my home town. they told me i was going to be working with the visual merchandiser and let me tell you people it was the BEST winter break i have had in years!!! I got to put up my own outfits on display, helped arrange jewelry–God i loved that–you know what the best feeling in the world is…..knowing that you put something together and have a complete stranger come up to you and say HELP ME PICK OUT AN OUTFIT!!! lol seriously people that is like heaven, or having them walk by your finished presentation and say I WANT THAT!! without changing one thing. You know like when you go to a store to go buy a cute outfit for like a party and you see something on display as you walk by the window and your like going crazy around the store looking for every dam little thing on that mannequin because you love that outfit so much that you MUST have it. GOD that feels good to know that you are so good at your job that other people appreciate it in an instant.

But anyway my point here was I can’t wait till i start working there and little by little work my way up….who knows maybe one day i can end up working at their main merchandising offices in NYC!! that would be AWESOME!! but for now lets just focus on finishing this semester and pursuing that degree!! and always remember not to give up on hopes and dreams…because if we did where would this world really be….

well adios for now….

Ur Blogging Gurl,

*Honey*
