Dover Publications used to be one of our favorite sources “back in the day.” The Dover catalog offered a wealth of useful and fun books as well as workbooks. Dover was one of the few places you could purchase books full of copyright free visuals and borders and more. So you might imagine how exciting that was for us in the 1970s, but who is giving away their age?
Today Dover Publications is alive and well and web available. We looked over a list of fashion and costume history books and some of the books and prices are just fabulous. These types of books make such a great start to your fashion library. You can be influenced by gorgeous details from fashion through the ages.

One book looked so tempting. Illustrated Encyclopedia of World Costume – “This authoritative resource by Doreen Yarwood covers the entire world with a comprehensive history of clothing and accessories that ranges from ancient to modern times. More than 2,000 illustrations accompany 650-plus entries.”
